CD-12 (6") Pre-Waxed Cotton Wick

The CD-12 wick is a robust medium-large wick, perfect for larger jars and candles around 3.5″ in diameter. It’s pre-waxed and comes with a tab, so it’s simple to set up in your container. CD-12 is a go-to wick for candles in big jars (like large apothecary jars or big tumblers) where you need a dependable flame to achieve a full melt pool across a wider surface.

  • Recommended Jar Diameter: Approximately 3.25″–3.5″ diameter containers. This wick excels in large candles such as 16 oz jars or other wide-mouth containers around three and a half inches across.

  • Maximum Jar Height: 6″ wick length can handle taller jars up to about 5″ of fill height. Whether your jar is short or tall, CD-12 gives you enough wick to reach the bottom and still trim to the proper length for burning.

  • Wax Compatibility: Reliable in both soy wax and paraffin wax candles. The CD-12’s sturdy braided cotton design is engineered to maintain a consistent, even burn, even in slower-melting natural waxes. If you’re making a soy candle in a big jar, this wick is often a great choice to start testing with.

  • Flame & Burn Performance: Burns with a robust, steady flame that can create a deep melt pool across a larger surface area. Despite its strength, the flame remains controlled – the self-trimming wick design keeps soot and mushrooming to a minimum. Your large candles will burn evenly from edge to edge, and you won’t have to fuss much with the wick between burns.

Usage Instructions: Affix the CD-12 wick to the center bottom of your container using a wick sticker or hot glue. Make sure it stays centered (a wick holder can help with this) when you pour in your hot wax. Let the candle cool completely, then trim the wick down to ~1/4″. It’s important to test burn your large candle – if you notice the melt pool isn’t reaching the jar edges or the flame is struggling, you may need to try a larger wick size or even consider double-wicking for very wide jars. Generally, CD-12 will do the job for most jars in its size range when properly tested and trimmed.

Ready to Shine: Create impressive large candles with ease using this 100-pack of CD-12 wicks. They’re designed to take the guesswork out of wicking bigger jars – order your pack today and enjoy crafting candles that fill your space with light and aroma!

Do NOT buy for making beeswax candles

Posted by KIARRA BOENITZ on 3rd Feb 2024

Hello! I want to start off by saying that everything else I’ve gotten from this supplier is GREAT! However, I do NOT recommend getting these wicks for making beeswax candles. Given beeswax melts at a higher temperature, these wicks are too small to burn effectively. Instead it starts “tunneling”. I made 4lbs worth of candles in a variety of different ways (shorter wicks, longer wicks, several wicks per candle) but unfortunately beeswax candles need a larger wick. But again! I highly recommend the other products. The beeswax quality is phenomenal! The scents are wonderful! And the packaging is delightful!

    Great for para soy blend

Posted by Pickles on 9th Feb 2018

After testing for days, this wick performed best for me in igi6006 para soy blend in the 8oz tin with fragrance oil at 9%. This wick gave me the longest burntime with the most controlled flame.

    Functional but underwhelming

Posted by Joseph on 21st Apr 2016

They were really easy to use being so long, and burn very well, but did not generate a very wide burn pool, only about 1.5 inch diameter. It could just be the wax I'm using (this is my first time making candles) but I'm going order some different wicks in the future.
