The CD-14 wick is a large cotton wick, pre-waxed and tabbed, suited for big candles. It’s often used in containers around 4″ in diameter or even slightly wider. This wick size delivers a robust flame needed for large diameter candles, while still maintaining the CD series’ hallmark of a consistent, clean burn. If you’re making a large single-wick candle (or considering double-wicking very wide candles), CD-14 is a great size to test for those around the 4-inch mark.

• Recommended Jar Diameter: ~3.5″–3.75″ wide containers. Choose CD-14 for candles in large jars or pillar containers in this range – for example, big tumbler jars, large rustic jars, or wide glass vessels approaching four inches across.

• Maximum Jar Height: 6″ length supports candles up to about 5″ tall. Whether your large container is stout or tall, this wick has the length to reach the bottom; just remember to trim to 1/4″ before lighting for best results.

• Wax Compatibility: Performs very well in soy wax, paraffin, and heavy soy-blend waxes. The CD-14 is designed to handle the demands of large, highly fragranced candles – its sturdy construction helps it maintain an even burn and strong capillary action even with thicker melted wax pools.

• Flame & Burn Performance: Burns with a strong, lively flame that effectively melts the wax across a wide surface. Despite its power, it remains self-trimming and relatively low-maintenance: you’ll see limited mushrooming and smoke, as the wick curls and consumes excess material while burning. A CD-14 wick candle, when properly wicked, will have a full melt pool and a clean burn for most of its life.

Usage Instructions: Center the CD-14 wick at the bottom of your large jar and secure it firmly (use a quality wick sticker or glue to handle the heavier wick). Keep the wick centered while pouring in your candle wax – for wide jars, a wick bar or two sticks crossed over the opening can ensure it stays in place. Once the candle is completely cool, trim the wick to ~1/4″. Test burn your candle to ensure the flame is adequately melting the wax; very wide jars (approaching 4.5″ or more) might require two wicks instead of one, but for jars around 4″ the CD-14 should create a nice even burn. Always adjust and re-test if necessary to achieve a safe, efficient burn.
