The CD-16 wick is a hefty cotton wick designed for very large containers, roughly in the 4″ diameter range. Pre-waxed and tabbed for convenience, this wick is great for single-wick candles at the upper limit of what one wick can handle (about 4+ inches across). If you have a wide jar or a large pillar candle mold, the CD-16 provides a strong flame to create an even burn in those big candles.

• Recommended Jar Diameter: About 3.75″–4.0″ in diameter. This makes CD-16 ideal for those extra-large jar candles – for instance, large cylinder candles or big apothecary jars that are around four inches wide.

• Maximum Jar Height: 6″ length works for containers up to ~5″ tall. You can confidently use CD-16 in tall, large jars, knowing the wick is long enough; just trim down to the usual 1/4″ before you burn.

• Wax Compatibility: Suitable for all common wax types, including 100% soy and other veggie waxes that are tougher to melt. The CD-16’s construction ensures it can pull up melted wax efficiently, supporting a steady flame even in dense or highly scented wax mixtures (which can require a stronger wick to burn properly).

• Flame & Burn Performance: Burns with a very strong, assertive flame to tackle those wide-diameter candles. It generates a lot of heat (by design) to achieve a full melt pool in a ~4″ wide candle. Even so, the wick’s self-trimming nature helps keep the burn clean – you’ll notice relatively little soot and only moderate mushrooming for a wick of this size. Properly wicked, a CD-16 candle will burn evenly and fill the container with a beautiful glow.

Usage Instructions: Affix the CD-16 wick securely at the container’s center using a durable wick sticker (important for a thicker wick like this). Ensure it stays perfectly centered when pouring your wax – for large candles, this is key to an even burn. Once the candle cools, trim the wick to 1/4″. We highly recommend test burning big candles: if your container is on the wider side (4″+), watch that the melt pool reaches the edges within a few hours and that the flame isn’t too high. If the center is too hot or the edges aren’t melting, you might need to adjust your wick choice or consider using multiple wicks for very broad vessels.
