The CD-18 wick is an extra-large cotton wick, pre-waxed and 8″ long, crafted for especially wide candles. This wick can handle containers in the 4″+ diameter range, making it one of the go-to choices for the largest single-wick candles or for pillar candles of substantial diameter. If you’re attempting a big, wide candle and want to stick with one wick, CD-18 offers a powerful flame to get the job done.

• Recommended Jar Diameter: Roughly 4.0″–4.25″ across. Use CD-18 in very large jars or pillar molds around four inches in width – it’s often the size needed for those giant candle jars to ensure the wax melts all the way to the edges.

• Maximum Jar Height: The 8″ length is suitable for candles up to about 7″ tall. This longer wick is great for taller containers or pillar candles; it gives you ample length to reach deep into a mold or jar and still trim the wick appropriately.

• Wax Compatibility: Performs well with soy, paraffin, and combination waxes despite the candle’s size. The CD series is known for working especially with natural waxes, and CD-18 is no exception – it can help achieve a steady burn in big soy candles that might sputter with a smaller wick. Usage Instructions: Fix the CD-18 wick firmly at the center base of your container or pillar mold (because this wick is thicker, ensure your wick sticker or adhesive is secure). Keep it centered while pouring in the wax; using a wick centering tool is highly recommended for such a large candle. Allow the candle to fully set, then trim the wick down to 1/4″ before lighting. Test burn is crucial at this scale – monitor the first burn to see that the flame melts the wax evenly to the edges and that the container doesn’t overheat. If you find the candle struggling to burn evenly at this width, you may need to consider using multiple wicks in the candle instead of a single CD-18.
