CD-22 (8") Pre-Waxed Cotton Wick
The CD-22 wick is the heavyweight champion of the CD series included here – a pre-waxed, 8″ long wick meant for the largest containers (around 4.5″–5″ across) or very large-diameter pillar candles. It provides an extremely strong flame and is usually the last stop for single-wick candles; beyond this size, double-wicking is often recommended. If you’re making an extra-large candle and want to try a single wick, CD-22 is your go-to for a bold, consistent burn.
-
Recommended Jar Diameter: ~4.5″–4.75″ wide containers. CD-22 works best in extra-large jars (think oversized statement candles) approximately 5 inches in diameter. It’s capable of melting the wax across such a wide surface, which is something smaller wicks can’t achieve.
-
Maximum Jar Height: 8″ length supports candle heights up to about 7″. This long wick is great for big pillar candles or tall oversized jars – there’s plenty of wick to reach the base and allow for proper trimming at the top.
-
Wax Compatibility: Great for soy, paraffin, and other candle waxes, even those with heavy fragrance oils. CD-22’s sturdy build is designed for “extra-large containers” and maintains a consistent burn in demanding conditions (large volume of wax, lots of scent, etc.). It’s known to burn cleanly with both natural and traditional waxes when properly wicked.
-
Flame & Burn Performance: Produces a very large flame that throws a lot of heat – exactly what’s needed to form a full melt pool in a huge candle. Despite its intensity, the flame remains as controlled as possible: the wick will self-trim (curl) to limit excessive soot, and it burns with a relatively consistent, non-flickering flame. You can expect some carbon cap (mushroom) due to the size, but that’s normal for such a big wick and can be managed by regular trimming. Overall, CD-22 delivers the powerful performance required for extra-large candles to burn evenly.
Usage Instructions: Adhere the CD-22 wick firmly at the center of your container’s bottom with a wick sticker. Given the size of both wick and candle, double-check that it’s perfectly centered and won’t shift (use a steady wick holder when pouring the wax). After pouring, let your candle fully cool and cure, then trim the wick to about 1/4″ before lighting. For a candle this large, a test burn is a must: ensure the flame is melting the wax out to the edges within a reasonable time and that the container remains at a safe temperature. If the candle is much wider than ~5″ or if you notice any issues (like a small melt pool or an overly tall flame), reconsider your wick strategy – it might be a case for using multiple wicks instead of one. With proper care and testing, the CD-22 will cap off your single-wick candle range by providing a big, bright burn in your largest creations.
Ready to Shine: For your most ambitious candle projects, this 100-pack of CD-22 wicks is up to the task. Create stunning oversized candles that burn evenly and impress with their glow – add CD-22 wicks to your candle-making arsenal and light up those large spaces with ease!
