Wooden Wick Booster 3/8″ x 5″

Clips Sold Separately

Intro: The 3/8″ Wooden Wick Booster is a thin supplementary wick designed to amplify the performance of a flat wooden wick. Use this booster alongside a standard 3/8″ wooden wick (or similarly sized small wick) to achieve a stronger flame, taller melt pool, and more reliable burn in challenging conditions. It’s especially helpful for candles made with harder-to-burn waxes (like 100% soy, coconut, or beeswax) or candles with heavy fragrance loads that can dull a flame. This booster essentially serves as a “partner” to your main wick, effectively double-wicking the candle in one clip for extra fuel and capillary action. Note: Boosters are intended for use with flat wooden wicks only – they are not standalone wicks.

  • Stronger Flame: The booster wick adds an extra wooden core that feeds the flame, resulting in a more robust, higher flame compared to a single wick alone. This helps prevent the flame from getting drowned out in waxes that tend to self-extinguish with one wick.

  • Deeper Melt Pool: By boosting the heat, it creates a larger, taller melt pool in your candle. This is crucial for large-diameter containers or waxes that normally tunnel – the booster helps the candle wax melt evenly across the surface.

  • For Tricky Waxes: Ideal for vegetable waxes like soy and beeswax that have high melt points. If you’ve had issues keeping a wood wick lit in pure soy, adding this 3/8″ booster can solve the problem by providing that extra capillary action needed to sustain the burn.

  • Use with Small Wicks: Meant to pair with our small/medium wood wicks (around 3/8″ width). For example, if your candle calls for a WW-2 or WW-3 wick but it’s struggling, a 3/8″ booster alongside it can give the necessary boost. Only use boosters in combination with flat wooden wicks – they slide in next to your main wick in the same clip.

  • Reduces Multi-Wick Need: Rather than installing two separate wicks in a container (which can be tricky to space), a booster lets you effectively double-wick using one clip. It’s a convenient way to increase flame power without drilling another wick hole in your setup.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Insert with Main Wick: Take your primary flat wooden wick (e.g., WW-2 which is 3/8″ wide) and the 3/8″ booster wick. Together, insert both pieces side-by-side into a single metal wick clip (sold separately). They should fit snugly; the booster is thin, so it sits alongside the main wick in the clip’s slot. Ensure both wicks’ bottoms are level in the clip so they burn evenly.

  2. Anchor in Container: Glue or stick the clip at the center bottom of your container as usual. Make sure both the main wick and booster wick are upright and parallel. They will essentially act as one wider wick.

  3. Pour Candle Wax: Pour your wax carefully around the dual-wick assembly. The two thin wicks will reinforce each other and remain upright (wooden wicks are sturdy). Let the candle cool completely.

  4. Trim & Light: Trim both wicks together to about 1/8″ height before lighting. When you light the candle, light the main wick – the booster will catch flame automatically and burn in tandem. You’ll notice a stronger initial flame.

  5. Burn & Monitor: Allow the candle to burn as you normally would. The booster will provide extra fuel, resulting in a taller flame and a quicker, more complete melt pool. Keep an eye on the flame; if it ever seems too high, extinguish and trim a bit. Generally, the booster creates a “vertical” flame that is stronger but still stable. After burning, trim both wicks evenly before relighting.

When one wick isn’t quite enough, the 3/8″ booster is your go-to solution. It’s a simple add-on that can save a candle that otherwise struggles to stay lit, especially in small-diameter soy candles or heavily scented recipes.
