Intro: WW-5 is a 3/4″ wide Medium Crackle wooden wick, supplied 5″ long, perfect for large container candles (approximately 3.5–4″ diameter). This wick creates a big, lively flame and a bold crackling ambiance. Use WW-5 in large jar candles, bowl candles, or other wider containers where a smaller wick just wouldn’t be enough. It’s not limited to any one wax type – this wick performs well in paraffin, soy, or blended waxes, but may be best paired with softer waxes or those with lower melt points if used alone in the largest containers.

• Robust Flame & Sound: A wider wick means a larger flame. WW-5 produces a bright, warm flame and a pronounced crackling sound that really stands out – great for those who want the maximum crackle effect in their candles.

• Ideal for 4″ Jars: Designed for use in big candles about 3.5 up to 4 inches in diameter. It helps ensure even large surface areas melt edge-to-edge, preventing tunneling in hefty candles.

• Multi-Wax Friendly: These wooden wicks work in all common candle waxes – from traditional paraffin to natural soy, coconut, palm, or gel wax. (For very hard or high-temp waxes, consider adding a booster wick, sold separately, to assist.)

• No Mushrooming: WW-5 burns cleanly with no carbon cap mushroom. There’s minimal smoking during the burn when the wick is properly sized and trimmed.

• Simple to Use: Stays straight and centered. The same universal metal clip fits this wide wick, holding it firmly and keeping the flame a safe height off the container bottom. There’s no need for double-wicking since WW-5 is already broad (unless using very difficult wax – see booster wicks).

Usage Instructions:

1. Prepare Wick: Place the WW-5 wick into a metal wick clip (sold separately). Center and stick the clip to your container’s bottom. For a wide container, double-check centering – an off-center wick could cause uneven melting in a big candle.

2. Wax Pouring: Pour in your melted wax. Because this wick is larger, pour slowly and avoid knocking it to one side. If your container is extremely wide, you might consider using two wicks spaced apart, but often one WW-5 is enough. Let the candle fully cool.

3. Trimming: Keep the wooden wick trimmed to about 1/8″ above the wax. Before the first burn and each burn thereafter, remove the charred tip (you can use wick trimmers or even pinch off the blackened wood gently). This helps the large wick ignite readily and burn optimally.

4. Burn Guidance: Light the wick across the top surface. WW-5 will produce a broad flame – ensure there’s no nearby draft or flammable decor. Enjoy the strong crackling sound! Allow a full melt pool each session. If the flame ever appears too high or flickers excessively, extinguish the candle, trim a bit shorter, and relight to maintain a safe, steady burn.
